Bathgate Street Aid is dedicated to offering essential first aid and welfare assistance to individuals in Bathgate town centre who find themselves vulnerable due to circumstances such as age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship, or intoxication from alcohol or drugs. Our core mission is to advance public health, save lives, and provide immediate relief to those in need, ensuring that no one is left without support during critical moments.
In collaboration with key partners, including Police Scotland, the Scottish Ambulance Service, and Bathgate Street Pastors, Bathgate Street Aid provides a compassionate, non-judgmental service to the community. Every Friday and Saturday night, from 9pm to 3am, our dedicated volunteers offer essential first aid and welfare support during the busiest hours of the night-time economy. We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals by assisting with safe transport home, addressing both minor and more serious injuries on-site, and, when necessary, connecting individuals with further medical care or arranging emergency ambulance support.
The primary goal of Bathgate Street Aid is to complement and support our local emergency services by reducing unnecessary strain on ambulance resources and Accident & Emergency departments. By addressing minor injuries and welfare concerns at the scene, we help alleviate the pressure on our healthcare system, ensuring that critical resources are available for more pressing emergencies. Through this service, we are proud to contribute not only to the immediate welfare of individuals but also to the long-term efficiency and sustainability of public services, ultimately generating significant savings for the community and the broader healthcare system.
