Bathgate Street Aid is a dedicated first aid and welfare charity that will serve the Bathgate town centre every Friday and Saturday night, operating from 9pm to 3am the following morning.
The charity’s mission is to provide compassionate care and practical support to individuals in need, focusing on:
- Assisting those under the influence of alcohol or drugs who may have placed themselves in vulnerable situations.
- Offering a comforting chat and safe space to individuals experiencing worry, panic, or distress.
- Arranging taxis and providing care until transport arrives, ensuring people can get home safely.
- Supplying phone charging facilities.
- Promoting safer sex by offering free condoms and lube.
- Assisting women with feminine hygiene products, such as liners or tampons, when needed.
- Offering warmth and protection through heat blankets and, when available, a welfare van for those at risk of hypothermia.
- Providing warm drinks and fresh drinking water to those in need.
- Delivering first aid services up to the Qualsafe FREC-3 level, reducing unnecessary ambulance callouts for minor injuries.
Once funds are secured, the charity will operate a centrally-based welfare van, supported by 2-3 patrol teams who will monitor and assist in high-activity areas of the town during peak hours.
